LA CARISHINA

La Carishina is an independent design fair that started in 2013 as a way to put local designers on the spotlight. In our country there’s so much talent but few spaces to showcase it so, once a year, La Carishina opens its doors to all kinds of artists so they can sell their creations to the public.

Everything is better with friends

Collaborations are our passion projects; the things we do to maintain our drive -and sanity- in the daily grind. Sometimes they may not pay much, but they’re always a great opportunity to explore and have fun creatively. La Carishina is about bringing different disciplines together, and that’s exactly what happened in this project.

Our studio teamed up with 2punto5d to develop the visual style for the 2019 edition (pre-pandemic, remember those days?). We wanted something lively, colorful, and fun that spoke of La Carishina’s community spirit, and we had the luck to collaborate with artists who specialize in street art and character design. The result was a modern, character-heavy, street-art-reminiscent visual style. From the start, the bubbly letters for the 2019 edition logo were heavily influenced by graffiti art.

The characters represent the variety of folks who go to La Carishina: young designers, old hippies, eclectic musicians and, because the fair is pet friendly, the occasional dog. Since the fair has so many stands and different activities, we used the characters and their colors to divide the place into identifiable sections.

We designed the signaling, staff t-shirts, posters, and merch for the event, working with local providers and recycled materials whenever possible. If one thing is true, is that art takes passion to survive but a village to thrive.
